Earning a living while traveling is a challenge. Learn about all the ways you can make money while on the road.

remote work in an RV

One of the biggest challenges you face when you embrace the #riglife is establishing a steady stream of income for you and your family. Conventional 9 to 5 jobs are difficult to follow through unless you plan to camp long-term in one place. Remote jobs are hard to come by and target specific skill sets. So how do you make a living while you travel in an RV? Read on to learn about different ways you can earn a living while traveling in an RV.

Documenting Your Life

Social media has opened up a lot of avenues to earn a living while traveling. There are many ways to use the online space to earn a living. Create your own website and start documenting your experiences through blogging, start vlogging your adventures on YouTube, generate an audience by posting regularly on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and more. The idea is to share your unique experiences with the world and create an audience.

As you start to build your following you can look into affiliate marketing, create courses for current/future nomads, paid partnerships, paid reviews and there are plenty more options to choose from. This will help you generate a steady stream of income.

Remote Jobs

The current pandemic has seen a rise in remote jobs. There are tons of companies and employers that are ditching their office space and having employees work from home. While this isn't possible for every kind of profession, most people can make use of their skills while working remotely. For instance, I am a part-time Occupational Therapist and have been treating patients through telehealth. So I can provide services through my computer at home or on the go. I also teach yoga.

You can ask your current employer if you can start working remotely, look for remote jobs online, or you can advertise at your campsites for different gigs. You can also look for freelance gigs in different areas you plan to travel to and make money while traveling.

Workamping

Depending on where you park and how long your stay is, you can check out if there are any job offers on your campsite. These typically include tasks like working their facilities, cleaning, attending to other campers, or working on a store that is on the campsite. Each site will vary in opportunities but this is a great way to make money if you are parked for an extended period of time. Workamping is a great way to make some money on the side as well.

Start a Business

An e-commerce business can be run from anywhere in the world as long as you have a good internet connection in place. If you are looking to sell items, research popular new products, or items you yourself make that you can sell online. You have options to ship from your location or send to a warehouse. Amazon, Etsy, eBay, and the list goes on for how many different platforms you can sell on. This does take time and research depending on what and how you want to sell, but this can turn into a great opportunity that once up and going will give you residual income while driving or experiencing a new place. Say goodbye to any 9 to 5 job.

Hit the Road!

If you are looking to just find odd jobs websites like Indeed or ZipRecruiter categorize online jobs that would best suit you. There are so many opportunities out there waiting for you so that you can take to the road and live your free life!
